WEEK 3 : WORLD-BUILDING & PLOT STRUCTURING

Crafting a children's book is like opening the doors to a world where imagination knows no bounds. It's where unicorns dance on rainbows and talking animals share their tales of wisdom.

LESSON 3 : World-building & plot structuring

Hello, young authors! 🌟 Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey into the world of storytelling? Today, we’re going to dive deep into the magical realms of world-building and plot structuring. Whether you're dreaming about faraway lands or places close to home, this lesson will help you bring your stories to life!

Part 1: Exploring setting : the heart of your stories !

First, let’s talk about settings! How does the setting change what happens in the story? We’ll explore how different settings can shape your tales and make them extra special.

Part 2: Introducing conflict and resolution

Next, every great story needs a bit of drama—or what we call conflict. This is where the excitement comes in! Maybe your character has to solve a mystery, defeat a dragon, or even make a new friend. But don’t worry, because we’ll also talk about resolution, where everything comes together and the story ends on a happy (or at least satisfying) note. You’ll learn how to weave these elements into your plot, keeping your readers on the edge of their seats!

Part 3 : Sketch the world your characters live in.

Now, it’s time to get creative! Grab your pencils and paper because we’re going to sketch the world your characters live in. Think about what makes your world unique. Is there a special tree that sings or a river that glows at night? Feel free to let your imagination run wild, and remember, there’s no right or wrong in your world!

Workshop : Outline your story’s plot!

Finally, let’s pull it all together by outlining your story’s plot. Start with the beginning—how does your tale start? Move on to the middle, where the action and conflict unfold, and don’t forget the end, where everything is resolved. Writing down a simple outline can help you organize your thoughts and make your story easier to write.

Material Needed:

  • Markers, pencils, and paper for sketching.

  • World-Creation Worksheets.

By the end of our 3 hours adventure, you’ll have the building blocks for a story that’s completely your own. So, put on your author hats and ready your imaginations—your storytelling journey begins now! 🚀
